About

Ecover is one of the largest producers of ecological washing and cleaning products in Europe. Founded over 35 years ago in Malle, Belgium, they were among the first to put phosphate free washing powder on the market. With a pioneering spirit, experience and clever science, Ecover has developed washing and cleaning products with plant-based and mineral ingredients that help consumers clean their homes with great efficiency and with minimal impact on our environment. Now these products are available in about 40 countries and Ecover's contribution to the environment has been recognised by Time Magazine and the United Nations Environment Programme. Ecover believes in harnessing nature as a force for good. They are passionate about using sustainable ingredients to create brilliant cleaning products. All ingredients are chosen to ensure Ecover’s products are as effective as possible whilst also achieving the lowest possible toxicity and the most rapid and complete biodegradability. For example, Ecover has developed an ecological surfactant for use in their hard surface cleaners. An Eco-Surfactant is a plant based ingredient produced in a biological fermentation process rather than a chemical one. Their eco-surfactants are pH neutral so kind to the skin and clean as well as – or better than – leading conventional brands. We became a B Corp because we believe businesses should go further and be restorative to society, the environment and our economy, sustainably producing products or services that improve the livelihoods of people and enhance our environment worldwide. Our B Corp rating gives us a great benchmark for continuous improvement and it’s important to us that the rating and our progress is available for all to see. As a B Corp we will continue in our mission to engage and inspire our peers, competitors and ourselves to do better, and help revolutionise the way modern day businesses do business. The Change We Seek Ecover is not interested in simply being ‘less bad’, they are always looking to the future and coming up with ideas about how their products can do good in the world. For instance, Ecover wants to turn the tide on plastic endangering our seas and oceans, as well as creating the conditions for a systematic clean-up of the waste that’s already there. That is why Ecover last year created the Ocean Plastic Bottle, one of the first bottles ever made from waste plastic fished out of the ocean. Using 1 tonne of ocean plastic waste, Ecover was able to create bottles made from 100% recycled plastic, of which 10% was ocean plastic and we are continuing the project this year.
