What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file stored in your browser when you visit a website. Sites use cookies to remember information about your visit, such as whether you’re signed in or a display preference you’ve set.

Cookies we use

We only use cookies that are strictly necessary to run the site or that store a preference you’ve set. None of the cookies below are used for advertising, and none of them track you across other websites.

• Authentication (Clerk). Our authentication provider, Clerk, sets a session cookie so you can sign in and stay signed in securely. This cookie is set across the whole site, including pages you can view while signed out, so we can recognize a returning signed-in visitor. See Clerk’s Privacy Policy for details on how Clerk handles this.
• Layout preferences.Once you’re signed in and using the SustainCheck app, two cookies (sustaincheck-sidebar-collapsed and sustaincheck-sidebar-width) remember whether you’ve collapsed the sidebar and how wide you’ve resized it, so the layout stays the way you left it. These are set by SustainCheck itself, expire after one year, and only store a display preference — nothing that identifies you beyond your own session.

Cookies we don’t use

We do not use cookies for advertising, and we do not currently use any analytics or tracking tools on this site — so there are no optional cookies to opt in or out of today. If that changes, we will ask for your consent before any new, non-essential cookie is set, and update this page first.

Managing cookies

Because every cookie we currently set is either strictly necessary (keeping you signed in) or a preference you asked us to remember, we don’t show a cookie consent banner. You can still block or delete cookies at any time through your browser’s settings — note that blocking the Clerk session cookie will prevent you from staying signed in.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as SustainCheck evolves, particularly if we introduce any new cookie or tracking tool. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above.
